Eh, it's a submarine movie, I'll watch it every now and then.I really enjoy the relationships among the crew in this one. ![]() Probably the best WWII American submarine movie, although it's rather shy on anything technical or strategic except that diving fast is desirable. Sort of a revenge movie, it's about a side-lined sub captain being vindicated and taking down "Bungo Pete", a particularly well-crewed destroyer patrolling the Japanese Home Islands. Another WWII movie, this time from the US perspective in the Pacific, based on the novel by Commander Ned Beach (later Adm.).All-star cast and pretty decent sets make the movie a great production. It showcases much about life aboard a modern nuclear submarine that those of us not in the service can only imagine. It is nonetheless a very cool submarine movie. Not a super popular movie around here because of the unrealistic sequence of events that occur regarding launch authority, but.It's one of the best depictions of men in a high-tension combat situation at length without resorting to Michael Bay explosions or dubious plot twists - it's perfectly illustrative of the life of a u-boot submariner balanced between the forces of the Allies and the Sea, both capable of killing them. many things you can call the film's plot. Vulgar, desperate, raw, dark, ecstatic, resigned. Great characters, solid acting, unforgettable accent, and Jonesy. While the magnetohydrodynamic drive is a key part of the plot, really not a lot of technical info in the movie.
